Community Standards

AltWoke exists for rigorous, evidence-based criticism. Our standards are built to protect that purpose — to make good argument easy and drive-by hostility hard.

What we welcome

Harsh, well-argued criticism of ideas, arguments, institutions, governments, ideologies, religions, cultures, and public figures. Disagreement is the product. The strongest objection to an essay is the first thing we want a reader to see.

What we prohibit

• Harassment of, or attacks on, private individuals.
• Threats of violence.
• Doxxing — publishing private information about a person.
• Spam and undisclosed promotion.
• Plagiarism and misrepresenting sources.
• Incitement to violence or lawbreaking.

The line we hold: criticize the argument, the office, the institution, the record — not the private person. Public figures are open to scrutiny of their public conduct; private individuals are not targets.

How participation works

There are no free-form comment threads — ever. Community participation is structured: you respond to an essay with a typed contribution (a Challenge, Add Evidence, or a Suggest Correction), each with required fields. Every response is reviewed by an editor before it appears. There are no likes, no vote counts, and no reply chains beyond a single author reply — none of the machinery that turns discussion into a performance.

Moderation & appeals

Rejected responses are never shown publicly, and the reason is shared privately with their author. Approving a reader-submitted source means it passed moderation — not that AltWoke endorses it; reader sources are always labelled as such and kept separate from an author’s own citations. You can report any published essay or response; reports go to the same editorial queue. Suspensions are applied with a recorded reason and can be lifted.

Corrections

We correct the record openly. Confirmed factual errors are fixed and logged in an essay’s corrections block, and the reader who reported an error is credited by pseudonym if they consent. See the corrections log.
