Before you enter
This is not a safe space. It is a thinking space.
Here you will meet arguments you dislike, satire that stings, and ideas that press on beliefs you hold dear. That is the point. We publish work meant to be challenged, and we expect you to challenge it. Nobody is asking you to agree. We are asking you to think, and to say why when you do not.
If you came looking for a place that will confirm what you already believe and shield you from the rest, this is the wrong door, and we would rather tell you now than waste your evening. If you believe ideas grow stronger when they are tested, and that being proven wrong is a form of winning, you are exactly who we built this for.
Writers argue in earnest, and sometimes they are wrong.
Every essay is one author’s sincere judgment, published under a real name or a pen name. It may be right, incomplete, or wrong. So may your reading of it. So may ours.
You can push back, and you are expected to.
Challenge a claim, add evidence, suggest a correction. A good objection is honored here more than easy agreement, and authors update their work when the better argument arrives.
Criticism is the house language.
We aim it at ideas, institutions, and arguments, never at your dignity. Disagree as hard as you like, and argue fair. Satire is welcome. Cruelty toward people is not.
Come in with your guard down and your standards up.
